How does this calculation work?
We simulate a full day (24 hours) based on your location, month, battery and solar panels:
Solar energy (W)
Solar production follows a bell curve (Gaussian distribution) peaking around 13:00, scaled to the peak sun hours for your latitude and month.
Consumption (W)
Consumers that run 24 hours are evenly distributed. Other consumers are spread over waking hours (7:00-23:00).
Battery SoC (%)
The battery starts fully charged. Each hour we calculate: yield minus consumption, and adjust the SoC (State of Charge).
Peak sun hours
We use 85% system efficiency and usable capacity per battery type: LiFePO4 90%, lead-acid 50%.
